Senior consulting for organisations navigating complex cloud transformations, AI platform adoption and large-scale infrastructure modernisation — delivered by a technology leader who has done it at the world's largest banks.
Consulting services built around real-world delivery experience at some of the world's largest financial institutions. We don't push theoretical frameworks — we offer patterns that work at scale.
Develop clear, workable multi-cloud strategies with concrete workload placement principles across AWS, Azure, GCP and private cloud — informed by real outcomes at tier 1 banks.
Design and build strategic AI hosting platforms suited to your workloads, security posture and regulatory environment — drawing on hands-on experience establishing AI platforms at a global tier 1 bank.
Architect and deliver hyper-scale PaaS platforms for containerised application hosting, middleware ecosystems, messaging and API frameworks designed for operating thousands of applications.
Eliminate technology debt and reduce costs through structured infrastructure transformation programmes — private cloud consolidation, virtualisation, containerisation and systematic migration at scale.
Establish and run cloud governance frameworks, oversee large-scale cloud transformation programmes and manage complex multi-stakeholder technology change — including RFPs, vendor management and commercial negotiations.
Senior technology leadership on a fractional or advisory basis — from setting technology strategy and architecture direction to mentoring engineering leaders and representing technology in executive conversations.
Tom Gilbert is a technology leader with over 25 years of experience building and running world-class engineering organisations at some of the world's largest financial institutions. He operates at the intersection of deep technical expertise and senior leadership — hands-on with code and architecture, equally at home in the boardroom.
As Managing Director at HSBC, Tom was Global Head of Cloud & Data Centre Services and Global Head of CTO Platforms — responsible for cloud platforms across AWS, Azure, GCP and AliCloud globally, the Bank's Developer Platforms and establishing a multi-cloud strategy and creating HSBC's AI and Data platforms teams.
At Barclays, he led an organisation of over 1,100 colleagues delivering infrastructure products across all public and private clouds, driving a large-scale private cloud transformation that migrated over 100,000 VMs and 100,000 containers whilst eliminating substantial technology debt.
At Deutsche Bank, Tom conceived, designed and built the Bank's hyper-scale PaaS platforms from the ground up — hosting thousands of applications and websites whilst saving the Bank over €400M. He was Deutsche Bank's first Distinguished Engineer and led the pioneering hybrid cloud programme that first brought public cloud safely into the Bank.
What sets us apart isn't just experience — it's the calibre of the problems we've already solved.
Every pattern, principle and approach has been validated in the most demanding environments imaginable — tier 1 global financial institutions with thousands of applications, strict regulatory obligations and zero tolerance for downtime or cyber attack.
Tom remains a practising engineer — writing code, designing systems and contributing to open-source software. Advice comes from someone who can sit alongside your team and do the work, not just describe it.
Technology decisions only matter if they make commercial sense. Tom brings the experience of managing large budgets, delivering significant cost savings, and translating complex technical trade-offs into clear business outcomes.
Deep familiarity with the compliance, audit, risk and regulatory constraints that shape technology decisions in financial services. If you operate in a heavily regulated sector, we understand your context.
Planning a cloud transformation, evaluating AI platforms or looking for senior technical leadership? Share the context and Tom will come back directly.
